Thank you, Kendra, for writing this up! I’ve been thinking about doing this for a while now and this is a great roadmap to start with.

Thanks @jenkuntz for sharing a comment! First one to use the new system :smile:

Thank you so much for sharing all this! My expensive WordPress hosting plan is up for renewal in about a year and I'm really hoping to switch to something static like this. I'm not really using any of the dynamic features of WordPress anyway.

This is so MONEY!!! I mean, the full emotion and struggle to make things better, but the fully realized solution is just so awesome. Makes me want to share with everyone Kendra (your awesomeness)... I'm just looking to start using a static site generator for a hobby blog and this is so valuable, but I can only imagine how much more valuable it would be for someone looking to make the switch. Thank the universe for peeps like you!!!

Hi Kendra, you have inspired me to move to Static sites and Hugo as well! I have been struggling with WordPress for a while now and this has been a turning point.

As for the floating images I've used the figure shortcode as in: {{< figure src="/MyImage.jpg" class="alignright" >}}

LitKnd commented 2 years ago

@zikato thanks, that is a great point about figure. I've started using that syntax now. It also supports captions which is awesome.
