5 years ago I, also, cannot add GeoMaps to my designer. Upon adding it, the whole IDE lags and then the designer pops up a rather uninformative error, as seen here: http://prntscr.com/o5ivm1
After that, the control remains, but if you try to dock or resize it, VS crashes without notice.
Attempting to manually adjust settings in the form constructor seems to work for some properties, but not all.

How to reproduce?
When I try to add the geomap object, an error occurs, LiveCharts.WinForms.geoMap produced an unhandled exception.
Detail system error: This path "C:\Users\btord\Documents\Proyects" does not exist on my machine.
Extra notes
I would like to know which is the correct path where I should add the xml of the maps.
I am using
