Digitize the green corridor proposals map #21

Open amcewen opened 8 years ago

amcewen commented 8 years ago

Simon O'Brien, who's leading the Mayoral Commission into Green and Open Space, presented some of their proposals to the Liverpool Propensity to Cycle Tool hackday (LivPCT).

Part of it was a map of proposed green corridors through the city, but Simon only had it as a scan of a map he'd hand-drawn.

We should translate it into a more useful format and release that as open data.

I've made a start on this at https://github.com/Liverpool-UK/green-corridors. So far I've done the "development needed" sections on the Stage 1 plan.

I've also done the Stage 1 "existing corridors" work, Stage 1 just needs the pinch points doing now.

I've started mapping everything in here. After running it through scraperwiki's pdf table thing then manually getting rid of he irrelevant bits, ive got long lis of development things; organized chronologically at some point in the past. Some are completed, some currently being built, some have permission but have stalled (Gostin building is in this category) and some that haven't started yet. Also, addresses and he developer or planning applicant for each one. There's probably 40ish that aren't just points but it shouldn't take a ridiculous amount of time to edge them, It'd be good if each thing could be a layer on the same map. and i'll help you out once i'm done if you're not, yours looks more complicated.

What are you using? openstreetmap and JOSM?

Seems like MapCSS is what im after but their website is painfully contentless because the links are broken. Hmmm, my dns is being odd unless most of the internet needs to be switched off and back on again. Hopefully that site does have working links! hello 8's
