Since bug 1413413, default preferences are not loaded automatically. So attempting to get a pref value throws. My temporal solution was defining all the pref values as user-modified instead of as default. But the add-on needs some fix.

Fixed in 3cf49f2adb7d648aad91ce1494826f0c4d96f6cc. However, some preferences used chrome://xnotifier/locale/overlay.properties in order to have a localized value. I don't know how to do this manually, so probably these preferences will stop being localized in Firefox 58+.
