Massive Paladin Threat #2437

I'm not sure what causes this. Or if it's a bug with prot paladins, with Righteous Fury, or with Karazhan mobs. I'm hoping that anyone else who has experienced oddities in paladin threat will be able to add to this. This has only been a problem as of today.

Tonight our prot paladin was causing massive threat generation somehow. Even bosses seemed to be taunted to him. We could fix it temporarily by having him relog, but it would resurface eventually.

I skimmed a few streams to see if it was just us. And it is not. Here are just a few of many, many examples of very odd threat generation from paladins using Righteous Fury:

Skeletal mage continues to attack a paladin even when he's ice blocked, when he's done nothing to the mob and doesn't show up on Omen: https://www.twitch.tv/painmachine69/v/72673346?t=01h16m55s

Paladin is able to hold agro on a mob without attacking it: https://www.twitch.tv/smokage/v/72673015?t=38m53s

Paladin Pulls Curator agro off a misdirected warrior at 4k threat with a single hit: https://www.twitch.tv/painmachine69/v/72673346?t=01h59m00s

Prot Paladin heals the tank on prince and pulls agro despite being nowhere on Omen: https://www.twitch.tv/mandosvk/v/72667321?t=03h02m21s

Can confirm this is a bug. When fighting Maulgar, my guild used a pally tank on the warlock. During quite a few attempts, without doing anything to any mob but the warlock, the pally would pull aggro on ALL 5 mobs in the encounter. The fight had been going on for some time, threat had already been established, pally tank only touched warlock, yet all 5 mobs would aggro the pally tank.

As each attempt happened, this aggro would happen faster and faster. As Tenzei said, Righteous fury seems to stack on death. Another theory I had is that all holy threat generated raidwide(holy pally/priest heals) is being transfered to the Paladin at 60% increased threat gen.

Issue #1018

#!c++

Righteous Fury is working correctly until relog. Then the buff is no longer owned by the player ( UnitBuff() doesn't return a duration anymore). This seems to break the threat increasing effect.

Im guessing it has to do with Right.Fury stacking on death, but I cant pinpoint whats causing it or how to manipulate it again. This happened on a WOTLK server I played years before, everytime the pala tank died, his threat gain doubled. and kept on going higher and higher, to the point where autoattacks was more than enough. Relogging did fix it tho, which worked in this case as well for us. But I have no idea how to make it happen again

I assume it's a bug everywhere. But raids with two or more tanks are the only place that people would notice it.

1: Yes, they should, and they do. Except in this case. Like I said, I think it has something to do with him being forced to attack the paladin no matter what.

2: I linked a video where the paladin is able to hold agro on a spectral charger from basically one tick of consecrate and he never even attacks it. The raid kills the mob with it hitting him. The link will take you to the correct time in the VoD.

3: This isn't my raid so I don't know the details. I just know the exact same thing was happening on our curator tries. He could not be pulled off our paladin tank by any means.

4: Yes you are right Omen cannot be trusted. Yes he did have Righteous Fury on. But even if we ignore Omen, I still think it should be completely impossible to pull heal agro off a druid tank on prince that far into the fight, even with RF on.

I think there might be some kind of bug with the threat modifier on Righteous Fury. Like I said, there are many more examples that I could link also. They just aren't as blatant as these. Usually just trash mobs that cant be pulled off a paladin, or attumen or moroes fights. They are things that look like they could be normal unless you're one of the tanks involved.

(1) Skeletal Ushers should drop Threath on Iceblock Target.

(2) Do you mean Moroes or the Bubbled Paladin NPC?

(3) Y is the MD still up from Hunter? Should be gone when he did his 3 hits? What happend there exactly, cant see any debuffs from paladin? Did you have another trollhunter in raid who set MD on Paladin?

(4) Omen can not be trusted as source for anything to be bugged, we need to recheck prot talents working on holy spells, i think they should all work? did he have Righteous Fury on?

I remember this shit being fixed on AA during early 2013, prot paladins were killing themselves naked with RF up multiple times by water in SSC to get crazy threat and solo tank hydros.
