Loop App Repeatitly Crashing and losing function. #2180

Describe the bug A clear and concise description of what the bug is. I.e. what you see vs what you expect to see.

Having used Loop since Feb 2024 it has operated perfectly, until now. In the last month it has continually crashed, with brief periods when it works as if there’s never been a problem. All connects with CGM and insulin pod is lost along with the data graphs in the middle of the page. Buttons at the bottom of the screen lose any function. The only way to restore any function is to close the app and reopen via Testflight. This restores limited functionality for few seconds before it crashes again. I apply insulin doses, but only manually. This has to be done swiftly before it crashes. When trying to start a new insulin pod it crashes. I have to start the app again and then I'm able to insert the cannula.

Couple of other points I hope help.

  1. The Loop has not expired
  2. I have notice Apple Health has also been crashing and acting very sluggish. From what I can see there are no future blood glucose entries.
  3. I have plenty of Storage on my phone and Apple Health appears to be ok at 1.01GB.

I tried to attached the ips file but it wouldn't let me.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to ‘close the loop app. Sometimes its necessary to restart the phone.’
  2. Click on ‘launch the app via Testflight’
  3. app opens and the crash error appears very promptly.

Expected behavior I’d expect some functionality but it crashes beforehand.

I have been having this exact same issue and it has been driving me crazy nd has really made my blood sugar go dangerously high. I even went and bought a brand new phone hoping it would stop the issue and it hasn't. If you can figure out any way of helping, please let me know!

i've been experiencing the exact same problem with both of you for the past month. i also went nuts and thought that my phone was the problem, so i bought a new one. It seemed like my health app was working properly and also I had enough storage, but the problem was there.

I might have just figured out a way to solve this now and so far it seems to be working. I just followed these steps:

  1. Opened Settings
  2. Went to Health app
  3. Went to data field and pressed Access to data, devices
  4. Chosen the Loop app
  5. From the field that says : Allow loop app to read : I disabled the Blood glucose data. ( My phone is in greek language, but I'm uploading the pics just for reference )

I had this issue a few months ago. It was being caused by Nightscout upload. As soon as I turned that off, the crashes stopped. Can someone look into this please?
