What are you trying to accomplish (in terms of diabetes care) that led to this request?
I see it as a UI/usability update. If the Pod Icon on the main screen had the reservoir total running it would allow a user to quickly plan their day. Since the Pod doesn't give that information unless it's below 50 units, it would be a way to use the available data (total usage) to estimate units left in the Pod. I used to be able to check my medtronic pump to see how much insulin was in the reservoir. Personally I use more than 50 units a day (60 to 120 depending on the type of day), I often plan my days around if/when I need to change my pump. This would just allow a user to look at the screen and see approximately how many units they have left without having to do the math or wait for the pod to get below 50 units. For people moving from the 300 unit Medtronic to a 200 unit Pod, this would be extremely helpful.
I'd be curious to know how users on the PDM currently plan out, if they have a > 200/3day usage rate.
Maybe there could be a Facebook poll? I have to change my pod every 2 days due to decreased sensitivity after 48h. (Side note: I’m considering my own hack to default the reminder time to 48h.)
I use less than 30 units most days—so I’m opposite of Joe. I need the reminder for when to change the pod. I have the pod set to remind me it’s getting low at 20, 15, 10, and 5 units (rather than the default 30, 20, 10).
HOWEVER, during pregnancy (2nd, 3rd trimester) people can use a TON of insulin (my IC Ratio was 1:2 at one point), and I think some of those users might hit > 100 units a day). It’s a brief period of life—but being able to input units (a hazy guess since the reservoir it load the cannula is so poorly marked in terms of specific units) might be helpful. OR a way to customize earnings, either in terms of default timeframe or default unit levels, like 50 or 20 or something other than 30, 20, 10.
My 2 cents...

*customize WARNINGS, not earnings

@ps2 I posed the question to see if more people are running out of time (meaning Pod went the full 3 days) or insulin (meaning that they ran out of insulin before 3 days) to dig down and see what people who ran out of insulin were doing to possibly extend that. It prompted some interesting conversation/solutions that were outside of technology - full thread here (https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheLoopedGroup/permalink/2268427943373859/)
The solutions they found were:
A couple of thoughts:
Tunneling (didnt know what this was - basically insulin leaking out the top of the canula where it enters the skin) was also discussed a bit for high temping with the pod as a problem.
This issue is stale because it has been open for 30 days with no activity.
This issue was closed because it has been inactive for 14 days since being marked as stale.
Basically, when you pair on a new Pod, you input how much insulin you push in with the syringe. That way Loop can track the total total insulin left (taking off the amount delivered to get a value) until it gets below the 50 units . At that point, it switches and gets the value from the POD.
