Refactor to support new features #4

Hi love the plugin.

I was in the process of adding a few new features and found it a bit hard to rework some of the code so I've refactored some of the code

Hopefully you're alright with it all!

Note that I changed the excluded folder functionality slightly so that it now cascades correctly to subfolders vs only one folder deep
