Don't attempt to access invalid variable URL in error #154

Instead we'll access the actual error since it's one of the only things that may actually show useful information

@EliRibble, sorry for missing your PR, would be happy to merge it, could you update your branch and fix the conflict? It should be easy as it's likely to be on the settings.json.sample file.
