Reflecting on the recent development of USI-LS and UKS, it's now clear that these configs are dealing with two related but distinct areas:

Enhancing KPBS compatibility with USI-LS
Porting UKS functionality to KPBS modules (as in parts), specifically from the "Duna" and "Ranger" series, which themselves mostly extend life support (rather than industrial) functions

Given that, should separate this project into two parts, which could work independently of each other while remaining compatible:

[x] USI-LS patch(es) for KPBS. This could be revised or deprecated if/when KPBS is updated for new USI-LS stuff, or serve as a template/pull request for the same.
[x] UKS patches for KPBS - to bring over the remaining (non-LS) functions into KPBS parts.

Also this would make it possible to get around the issue that UKS parts are mostly rigid modules extended by small or inflatable "efficiency parts", whereas KPBS modules are rigid/deployable but have no efficiency-part analog.
