I think the builds are failing because it requires the lh-vim-lib pull request to be merged in as a dependency :)

As I've preferred to use the already defined lh#encoding#strlen() function, I did not merge this PR. Regarding the explicit call to lh#ft#verbose(), I'm doing it only on vim versions without the patch 7.2.061 that seems to be related to the issue you observed. Let me know if this isn't enough.
