Sharing toot in a Screenshot format with embedded link. #231

Both Twitter and New Threads app are able to share a Tweet or Thread on Instagram Stories as a visual picture of a Tweet/thread, where when you tap on it, it would take you to that thread/tweet on Thread or Twitter app respectively.

So if our Toots can also have the same feature, where we can share toot in a picture format with embedded toot link to Instagram stories, it would be a great way to advertise Mastodon and bring people on here.

Could you add an example and more details of how this works? Is the link embedded in the image metadata or part of the image?

I'm sorry as that is something I dont know, on how it works on backend. But with both Twitter and Threads when you share a tweet/thread to Instagram story it shows up that single tweet/thread which is interactive, as in when you tap on it, it would redirect you to that thread in threads app or tweet in Twitter app

This seems to be less about sharing a screenshot and more about having a direct integration. I don't think this is possible without help from Instagram's side, as it seems like their sharing API does not support that.
