With a fresh installation of Splunk the license of Splunk runs in Enterprise mode for a limited time. During this time, the app "Website Monitoring" can be used properly.
However, if you switch the license to "Free" (whether forced by the expiration of the trail period or by manually changing the license group), the app will stop working.
This means:
existing websites are no longer monitored
Adding new Websites (aka Data sources) are not included in the monitoring
A manual removal of the app from the directory, a subsequent restart and the reinstallation of the app will not solve anything.
