Build Core3 without git #13

The git repository for Core3 is large and takes a long time to download. The build process requires using git to find the commit/revision hash. We should figure out a workaround to avoid that.

On a related note, some ".gitignore" files are presently being shipped in the RPM.

There are some hard-coded dependencies in the Core3 code that require git. Closing since we cannot fix this.
