Line in and microphone no longer record audio

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install Soundflower
2. Mic and line in do not register audio input
3. uninstall, still does not register audio input

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
would expect mic or line in to work - neither do now. Recording mic then 
playback results in 
white noise (tried using Quicktime, audacity and photobooth as well as 
microphone audio level 
demo in preferences).  

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
10.6.2 and 1.5.1 soundflower

Please help or I'm going to have to reinstall OSX. Which I REALLY don't want to 
have to do :(

Unfortunately, this isn't enough information to reproduce the problem.

For #2, the Mic and Line do not register audio input in what program?  Using 
what 
settings?  In the later description it mentions some programs but not an exact 
set of 
steps for each program.

How is AudioMIDISetup configured?  Is it possible to get screenshots?

A demo version of Ableton Live can be downloaded for free, and is used for 
testing 
Soundflower a lot.  It would be useful to know if the problem appears using 
that or not.

If more information is provided, this week is a "Soundflower work week" and I 
might be 
able to address the problem.
