Unable to get iPhone 4 (GSM) to iOS 4.0. #531

First off i wanna state it is an iPhone 3,1 and one of the first manufactured confirmed by serial number (86022FQ1A4S). Also I dont get the usual (Unable to find AppleNANDFTL error) if it couldnt be downgraded to 4.0. Im able to complete the downgrade but can never get past the infinite boot logo or exit recovery mode. I have tried everything. Enabled exploit, cleared NVRAM, and re-done downgrade countless times, disabled exploit and went back to 7.1.2, re-enabled exploit and went back to 4.0 yet will only get inifinite bootlogo or stuck on recovery mode. Please help

Unable to find AppleNANDFTL is not fixable, white screen on 4.0.x is not fixable either, both of these are device incompatibility issues with the iOS target

Use 4.1 or 4.3 or newer instead

gimbobob commented 3 months ago

I don't get the AppleNANDFTL error nor any white screens... thats why I said its most likely not device incompatibility so I kinda hoping for any advice or things to try. I will try higher versions of ios 4 tho.

typically getting stuck on recovery/white screen recovery on 4.0.x is pretty much the same, its device incompatibility that i know of

gimbobob commented 3 months ago

just confirmed not even 4.1 works. same issue, im either stuck on the boot logo or stuck on recovery mode after cleaning NVRAM (clearing NVRAM and redoing the downgrade makes no difference either, just brings me back to stuck on bootlogo). the serial number indicates its definitively not a incompatibility issue- im sorry to bother you as i love this program but id love to find out why it wont work for me

not sure tbh, is it a white iphone 4 by chance?

also try 4.3 next

4.0-4.1 isnt for everyone, especially 4.0.x, not all iphone 4 devices will be able to run it

i can try and investigate the issue if theres any on a later date, but for now, the reliable minimum is 4.3 or 5.0 or 6.0 depending on the device

no it is not a white model as i know those released a bit later. I just tried with 4.3.5 and it worked. Just odd considering if you check the serial number it def was an early may/june 2010 model of the iphone 4 and should of came with ios 4.0. However i will try to restore to 4.0 from 4.3.5 now. Should i choose the 4.3.5 ipsw as the base version when downgrading now or still choose 7.1.2?

ios 7 is always the base
