A6 checkm8/ipwndfu still has no success on linux? #573

Hi, I've been trying to downgrade an iPhone 5 but progress always stops during the checkm8/ipwndfu exploit. I did hear success rates were improved recently (https://www.reddit.com/r/LegacyJailbreak/comments/1f5eduo/update_legacy_ios_kit_august_2024_update_post/) but after a day of trying on 3 different machines it hasn't budged. I've tried on an AMD laptop running Mint, an Intel desktop running Ubuntu and a Pi 4 running Pi OS and they all fail at checkm8. DFU mode is picked up fine, and something is happening because the phone screen stays black but gets stuck in some sort of limbo, I have to put it back into DFU to have it pick up again. Whether I unplug twice quickly as suggested or not the result is the same. On some machines I've gotten a langid error, others I haven't but no other errors. Is there something I'm getting wrong, or should I just keep trying? I'd be happy to provide any logs/info if needed.

success rate on linux is no longer zero, but it is still low. there is nothing i can do about this. using ipwnder on mac or ios is still the recommended method. for ipwnder on ios, go here: https://github.com/LukeZGD/Legacy-iOS-Kit/wiki/Pwning-Using-Another-iOS-Device

I would say i've attempted a hundred times or more by now so I guess it really is that low. I'll keep trying a bit longer since I don't own another idevice. Regardless thanks for the heads up and hard work :)

if you dont have a pc/laptop with an intel cpu i dont think its worth attempting any more without a mac/ios device

i have done tests on intel only and it works on like 1 every 10 attempts

Interesting, I did try on an Intel desktop but still the same as the others and it's been a lot more than 10 attempts haha. Maybe I could try a different distro/machine? I assume it's potluck at this point :p
