No Activity Notification HomeKit #67

Closed PL67 closed 4 days ago

Hello Luligu,

Sorry I did not reply on last issue, but I was a bit busy.

Did have time for some further testing this week. Updated via Ubuntu, since update via Matterbridge Web Interface still does not work for my system, and noticed the Shelly Plus Smoke is also now working, so that is great.

But Plus Smoke is added as contactsensor, no option to show as smoke sensor and does not give notification (enabled) when triggered in case of smoke or fire. Also noticed for other sensors that Activity Notification does not work, like BLU DW. Very unfortunate, because you do want to be able to receive such push notifications (apple TV as hub) There is of course a workaround with for example Pushcut or HomeKit Controller app.

Just FYI, to maybe improve if possible.

Thank you.

Hi, 1) "Updated via Ubuntu, since update via Matterbridge Web Interface still does not work for my system": read this: https://github.com/Luligu/matterbridge/blob/main/README-SERVICE.md#verify-that-with-your-distro-you-can-run-sudo-npm-install--g-matterbridge-without-the-password

2) "But Plus Smoke is added as contactsensor, no option to show as smoke sensor:" the reason is simple: Home app still doesn't support the smokeCoAlarm device type (0x0076) and all Matter 1.2 and 1.3 device types! Right now that device type is supported by Home Assistant and Smart Things. So I'm waiting for Home and to support it and I will change that. If you are curious install the dynamic example plugin: there you have all device types; so you can understand what your controller supports and what not.

3) Activity notifications work for all devices:

IMG_9853 then IMG_9854

You can also add an automation: IMG_9855

This is the result of opening the BLU DW: IMG_9856

P.S. Here Matterbridge is running on a Radxa rock-s0 device, not on a super cumputer.

Hello Luligu,

I have Activity notifications set like this, but does not work for BLU DW or old WiFi DW2. I see the sensor opening, but no activity notification follows.

The second methode you describe, you need to set an action, like switching a relay. No option for only notification. When automation is set, the switch reacts, but again no notification. Eventough I do receive notifications from HomeKit Home App from Aqara products. But maybe I have some setting wrong? So I did it with PushCut, and that does work.

Thank you.

Ok, the notification depends on your Home app... I have no idea what can be wrong there.

Hello Luligu, I do not think there are different Home Apps on iPhone? Maybe only IOS version, and different HomeKit Hubs, like Apple TV or Homepod. Also, there is no option to change notifications. Only maybe Focus to block notifications, but I checked. Also, I do receive notifications from other HomeKit products. So I know its working.

I have IOS 17.6.1 and Apple TV 4k 128GB as hub.

But, like I said, not a big problem.

Thank you.

iOs current is 18.0.

There is also a setting Home Settings, Safety and Security that impacts notifications...
