Big issue with latest Firefox 62.0 #98

Forget Me Not ver. 1.0.5 / Firefox 62.0 (x64) / Win7 (x64)

After a clean install of Firefox 62.0 I was quite surprised to notice that FMN's toolbar button was greyed-out. I had a look in about:addons and FMN was not shown ads disabled. I had a look at the Browser console where I found this info:

addons.webextension.forget-me-not@lusito.info WARN Firefox does not support dataTypes: serverBoundCertificates.

Anyone have an idea of the problem? No need to say I reverted to Firefox 61.0.2: I need Forget-Me-Not

Thanks for the report. I've just tried with nightly, which is on version 63 now and there it works. Since Firefox 62 isn't out yet (at least here), I'm wondering where you got your build?

A grayed out toolbar icon should only be caused by private mode.. maybe you had a private window open at the time?

Firefox not supporting serverBoundCertificates (yet) should not be a problem.

I got FF62 from https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/

No, I wasn't in Private Mode, for sure. I include in user.js, user_pref("browser.privatebrowsing.autostart", false);

It was on FF launch, icon is quickly grayed out, browser console states what I mentioned above, and FMN is really not working, I checked easily by visiting a site delivering cookies.

Moreover, but this is not related to FMN, my Stylus FF extension lost all of its stylings, which seems caused by an indexedDB problem.

At this time FF62 is not usable here. That's now your problem anyway. My point is FMN being hooked by Firefox 62.0

OK, I just installed firefox 62.0 x64 from there and have no issues with FMN (also on Win7 x64). Not sure what exactly you have different. Maybe you can try again with a clean profile?

OK @Lusito , thanks. The culprit is obviously among my FF settings. I'll close the thread.

Lusito commented 6 years ago

@StanGets Please keep me updated if you find out what's wrong with your setup. This might happen to other users as well.

ghost commented 6 years ago

@Lusito I certainly will. Might help others facing a similar issue which is, one again, not that of FMN.

@Lusito the issue is resolved, "the eagle has landed". Running flawlessly FMN 1.0.5 / FF62.0 No idea what happened. Same environment with first problematic FF62.0 install (this thread) and second flawless FF62.0 install. All I know is that in between (once reverted to FF61.0.2) the 'ViolentMonkey' FF extension had been updated. Now is that a possible explanation I have no idea.

All is OK now. Enjoying 'Forget Me Not' as always. Couldn't forget it.
