2 years ago I've made some tweaks to my color schemes and it looks better, but there's still no clear definition of a tab bar in Dolphin. One idea that came to me was to draw a dividing line under the tab bar, in order to emphasize that there is a division between the bar and the file viewing area.
Here are some mockups I've made (using background opacity = 30% of sidebar color and line with same color as sidebar):
The background color for dolphin tabbar is the same of the content area. And selected tab background is not trully visible. Must be better if the tabbar background use the same color of the sidebar and the selected tab use the same background as content area...
