Rework of the habitability assignation probabilities? #45

Man this title is a mouthfoul. But anyway, the heavy feels a bit off to me. In my current playthrough, like half of the species I find come from the "special" planets/stars. I think those species should be quite a lot rarer (also 'cause those one with the barren habitability have quite a buff in the early colonization). So, shall we discuss about the new values? I'd say at least a 75% chance of a "normal" planet class.

On a separate but somewhat related note: The massive increase of habitable words causes severe UI lag, the biggest offender is Star habitability, this is one of the reasons some prefer the normal over Heavy.

Normal habitability is random and currently the preferences are actually already assigned through events with weighed modifiers, including filters so that mainly rock-y looking portraits (don't really exist but I tried to find them) are assigned to Molten worlds, and so on. Weights can be experimented with as wanted so if you wish to tweak them go ahead and try some out until you think you've found a good combination. Either way, Stellar preference for example currently has an extraordinarily low chance of spawning already. Setting it even lower would inevitably get me complaints from people who think they never spawn.

There's 3 possible courses of action I can see:

  1. Status quo.

  2. Tweak weighed modifiers for less specials. Risk of having people on the other side of the spectrum complain.

  3. Create an event chain that triggers on game start and asks the player to specify the wanted frequency of specialty preferences (and possibly other things as well later on).

3 is the only robust solution I think, but requires some serious extra work, and I'm not sure if that's really warranted...

Either way the UI lag is something I can't fix. I haven't noticed it personally on my pc, bu the Stellaris UI is notably laggy even in vanilla with an okay CPU+GPU. There are built-in filters to remove extra icons on the galaxy map as well.
