The lower image has the "base surface", a cube, with its normals inverted. Hence the yucky beige & flat shading.
Silly question: do you have "Light Tracing" in "Render Properties -> Light Paths" active?
Yup. Always. I generally don't goof around with the settings. I tried switching LightTracing off because of your mail, but apart from some serious fireflies, I still don't see any caustics akin to the bidir ones.
Sincerely, T. Sandberg

I said it was a silly question 😄 Oh, I just checked, I got 2.61a0 installed. Maybe that made all the difference?!
I got the latest build, 2.61a, too.😵💫

Please try the simplest scene of'em all: Blender 3.1 and LuxCore 2.61a0
If that doesn't help, maybe you can upload your .blend?
I found the culprit!!! When I add the material "Glossy Coating" to a base material; that's when PathTracing fails to produce caustics on that surface! =D
Sincerely, T Sandberg (Yet again a happy toddler😁🐣)
PS: I tried to add a Blend-file (at 4.5 mB), but the mail-system considered it too large! :DS

@Fomhorian, upload the zip on the website. Good you found the issue.
But ... Disney and glossy works (unless I am doing something wrong)
AND, carpaint! Carpaint doesn't want to work with glossy!
What are your thoughts?!
.blend file:
Steps to reproduce: When using Luxcore in pathtracing mode the caustics from a transparent object doesn't show on a base surface, unless you flip the normal(s) of the base surface. Bidir works perfectly.
