I read your DMP in your other repo. You have made a good start and I really like your Description of the project. Some minor improvements I could suggest:
- Project start dates These are just the start and end dates of the semester 18/7/16 and 28/10/16
- Project contributors Could be cleaned up by removing extra rows
- Related Policies As a start you could add the UoA policy https://www.auckland.ac.nz/en/about/the-university/how-university-works/policy-and-administration/research/conduct/code-of-conduct-policy.html
- Ethics I think you are a bit confused on this section, you have mentioned that there are no human ethics and that the only requirements are respecting the Maori culture. You explained how the use of the data will preserve the original artifacts as they need not be modified for the research but I think you need to add more specific information on other cultural requirements you will fulfill such as ensuring correct spelling and how the Maori principles of Whakapapa and Kaitiakitanga will be considered when planning sharing and use of the data in the future
- What data will be created? Here you talk about Python but Python is not data, Python is a programme that can be used to manipulate and create data but it is not data itself so here you should talk about the obsidian records.
- How will the data be collected? Here you need to talk about the methodology for how you collated your obsidian records and where you got them from
- Metadata Metadata is data which explains your data e.g. how it was created, when it was created, who created it etc. From what you have written, I recommend you see a tutor and get them to explain this concept to you
- Long term plan I think you should reconsider this section as there should definitely be a plan in place for the management and relevance of this data in the future
- Who is responsible for data management? It would be good to specify your and Dion's precise roles so there is some accountability as to who is responsible for the different elements of data management
- What resources do you need? You have said software but you could be more specific e.g. Python, Excel etc.
- Overall formatting and spelling Once a section is complete you can remove the explanatory text in square brackets to make it look tidier. I also noticed a couple of spelling mistakes so run a quick spellcheck to pick up those.
You have definitely made a good start :) Let me know when you have filled in the other boxes and I'll give you feedback on those!
