branch is simpler-install

should I add the alternative install info right after the conda install info (line 45)?

ramon-astudillo commented 1 year ago

I suggest you do this on the guide, see https://github.com/LxMLS/lxmls-guide/pull/151

but feel free to modify the README.md as well (maybe add a reference to the guide?)

Hi @ramon-astudillo I think it would be easier to have a new PR for my part since I always found 2 people working on the same PR extremely cumbersome and overcomplicated (unless you know a straightforward way to do it ofc!)

ramon-astudillo commented 10 months ago

Sure, feel free to create one!

aitorme commented 10 months ago

perfect! I was wondering, since all the install info is only on the https://github.com/LxMLS/lxmls-toolkit/tree/student#readme file, it probably makes more sense to do it the other way around, i.e. add the info in the readme and then write a line in the guide pointing to the alternative install (thus pointing to the readme). What do you think?

ramon-astudillo commented 10 months ago

My worry is that the readme can end up with too much information, but you can do an initial version and we can see if this is the case. What do you think?

I just added it to the pages/intro/install.tex document (see https://github.com/LxMLS/lxmls-guide/commit/545c7a4092d84a16f1d2d1a9a660afdd8a16b753). I'd make it less verbose for the readme file but let me know if you think this is short enough already.
