release date update: Q4 , maybe november
letsencrypt is now beta phase. Its possible for me to use my jane client wiht ssl encryption, but we cant provide a client with certificate, obviously. Maybe we can develop a script to automate the process? The idea is, that the user will fire the script and get the certificates installed. atm the automated nginx installation is experimental... What do you think @Nesurion ?
What kind of information is needed for lets encrypt to generate a certificate? Do you know if they provide some kind of API for that? And how does the procedure to include the certificate in nginx look like?
In general: automation, definitely! We should consider automating more parts of the installation process, because currently there is a lot of manual steps and no one likes to setup a environment.

Let's Encrypt only issues certificates for valid top level domains, and is thus not an option for jane.
After the test to use own CA and own certificates, it will be better to wait for lets encrypt cause of warnings and incompatibility.
Release Date of lets encrypt: september
