Hello, I am using the LeMans model in R programming language. In the model, the initial parameters a and b are respectively defined as: a, the density-independent part of the hockey-stick recruitment function; b. the density-dependent part of the hockey-stick recruitment function. a and b are in the hockey-stick sparner–recruit relationship respectively α and β Are you? If not, what is their specific definition? what are they used for? where did they originally come from? Please help me answer it. Thank you very much!

OK, I've learned that a and b are α and β(S2 File in “LeMaRns: A Length-based Multi-species analysis by numerical simulation in R”). I found the Formula to calculate α and β in “A length-based multispecies model for evaluating community responses to fishing”. Calculated from it α and β there are units, but α and β shouldn't there be no unit? Looking forward to your reply!

Ns_par of LeMans model comes from "Evaluation and management implications of uncertainty in a multispecies size-structured model of population and community responses to fishing". According to its estimation method, α and β there should be units, but Why do a and b in NS_par have no units? Looking forward to your reply!
