No text transitions with IE8 #270

I have a slideshow with the image-captions floating over the <body> background 
image. In IE8 the transitions overlap without any change in opacity.

Now if you add a background color to image-caption the transitions will work 
fine.

This transition works fine in IE7 (have no tested IE9 or 10), FF, Chrome, 
Safari, and android.

I have tried this with jQuery 1.3.2 and 1.7.1
