Test creating a mosaic using STAC produced by cmr-stac

Acceptance Criteria Python code (ideally in a notebook to view output, see example notebook linked below) which demonstrates using STAC to generate mosaicjson and using that mosaicjson layer to visualize a dataset which has many files stored in COGs. The STAC used must be from a STAC catalogue that is a proxy catalogue built on top of an instance of CMR.

Background

• A STAC catalogue can be built on top of an existing CMR catalogue using https://github.com/nasa/cmr-stac
• An instance of cmr-stac proxy API is deployed on top of Earthdata CMR https://cmr.earthdata.nasa.gov/stac
• We can use STAC results with a few libraries to generate mosaicjson. MosaicJSON can be used with a dynamic tiler to visualize data stored across greater than one COG. Such as SRTM for MAAP.
• We want to test this so we can use a STAC catalogue to visualize datasets stored in MAAP CMR

Describe the solution you'd like

• We want to test that this cmr-stac proxy will work for us before deploying a cmr-stac proxy on top of MAAP CMR
• We can probably use this collection to test creating a mosaic: https://cmr.earthdata.nasa.gov/stac/LPDAAC_ECS/collections/VIP01.v004

• Things to consider:
  • Do we have the right metadata in our MAAP CMR to do something similar for any collection with granules as COG assets (such as SRTM)?
  • What and how would we want to set a limit on the number of items used to generate a mosaic?
