Automatic Banning #17

Would be neat if we could build in an automatic temporary(?)-blocking (or
throttling?) feature for people who're spamming/port-scanning you, kinda
like an additional defense against DOS/DDOS attacks. See this forum-thread
for more details: (http://forums.phoenixlabs.org/showthread.php?t=18690).

Removing 'After1.0' release-targetting.

I like this idea, but again, is it really necessary? PeerBlock/PG were created
as
"IP filtering software" - this seems to be going the route of a full-fledge
firewall....

Now, back when CastleCops was around, a user posted a neat little "Logs2List"
script
compilation, which sadly only works on Windows (this Phoenix Labs user is in
luck,
him being on Windows 2k3 though) - it examines logs, and allows you to create
allow
(that would be "close friends" and/or "regulars" to the game server) lists, and
"block" (that would be the repeat offenders, high instances/port scanning
dummies)
lists, the app goes through the logs and creates a neat little list, so you can
run
it through when you get back from a long day, no need to be in front of the
computer
to "catch" the miscreant.

Sadly, since CC went out, there's not much web presence about the little tool
online
anywhere, other than the original tool he linked to on CC,
http://www.wakeupyouidiots.com/Logs2List.zip which contains a nicely written
PDF/readme file for the scripts.

I don't know, perhaps you could get with that guy and incorporate the logs2list
feature(s) into PB? :)
