Resolve Site Address Conflicts #3

Open theryankelly opened 3 years ago

Resolve any remaining Site Address Conflicts. This may require a fair bit of googling to choose which is the correct address. These are caused by different sources not having an exact match on address fields.

I think I finished this. Do you want to take a look or should I just move it to 'Done'?

Not quite sure I follow the new tables of Site 1 and Site 2. Looking at "Melody Phaneuf Paintings" it seems to be associated with Fenway Studios maybe Melody had space at Fenway, but Google lists that org in Gloucester. Should the Sites tab have two spaces listed for Melody in linked fields out to those tabs? (Maybe Melody is bad example if our data was poor to start)

How does this related to #10 are we keeping address in org as well as Sites?

I think this might be easier to explain over the phone, but you can essentially ignore the Sites (1st) and Sites (2nd) tables. They are outdated tables that I too nervous to fully destroy.

More background:

Sites (1st) is the original (~July 2020) table. I deduplicated that table by making a copy of the Site Name field and linking that field to a new table, Sites (2nd). This helped me aggregate duplicated Sites relatively quickly. I was still seeing duplicates on the Sites (2nd) table, so I chose to do one more de-duplication, this time by address. That yielded the most recent version of the Sites table, which is just called Sites.

Melody is an interesting case. From what I can tell, these paintings, which may be based in Gloucester, were in the gallery at Fenway Studios in April 2016. Guessing this from the Space Name, “Melody Phaneuf Paintings: Fenway Studios Share-April 2016.”

This record came in from Source 4, with the Source Line number 376 - Melody Phaneuf Paintings: Fenway Studios Share-April 2016. I’ll take a look at the original file later today to make sure there wasn’t anything about my process that we should be worried about.

Provided my process still seems sound, I think we should cut the mention of Melody from the Fenway Studios record and instead set up a space for the Gloucester site. Does that make sense to you?

Best, Lily

@lperkinshigh that explanation makes sense.

On Melody, I agree I think setting up a new Gloucester site makes sense, will add that to the list along with other sites from K drive that were shared. I am ok leaving 376 - Melody Phaneuf Paintings: Fenway Studios as space links to site two Fenway Studios. Would be interested to know if it was a temp installation, which gets at that future goal.

Think this issue looks good to close out.
