Clear selection button clears on search axis #440

Since the clear selection button is not tied just to searching, it needs its own method of selecting what to clear.

@bmbroom I know some changes were made to how the clearing in searching is done. Is there any more definition as to what we plan to do with regards to this? Do we envision another clear button somewhere?
