Which device (manufacturer, type)? Motorola DroidX (Verizon)

Which firmware is installed? Android Froyo 2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US (rooted,
of course)

What version of wireless tether are you using? 3.1.0 Beta 7

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. DroidX running WiFi tether 3.1.0 Beta7
2. HP Laptop (6440b used to test) running Kubuntu (linux) 11.10 using Broadcom
wifi adapter driver (brcmsmac)
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead? Fails to connect to wi-fi
tether - will not connect at all - tested with WPA turned on/off, but no
difference either way. Linux can see the tether device SSID, and gets its MAC
address but fails to connect.

Please provide any additional information below.

My HP Laptop will connect to other wi-fi sources (like my home wireless router
- a Dlink dir-655) using the same software configuration (Kubuntu Linux 11.10
with broadcom driver brcmsmac). Problem could be in the broadcom driver, but
since it works with other wi-fi sources, I doubt it.

I have also tried several previous versions of Wi-Fi tether for Root users,
none of which have worked to connect to this HP laptop running Linux (Kubuntu
11.10)

Same problem over here but with xubuntu and a motorola defy. Also i have tried
with the same computer running hackintosh and i can connect seamlesly , after
some digging it seems the problem comes from the dhclient.

Same problem with Motorola Defy, tested with multiple computers with Ubuntu and
Linux Mint.
Also with fixed ip setting.
With windows the connection works.

I have solved this issue by using a different driver - wl, which is provided
with Kubuntu 12.10. Do NOT use the Broadcom drivers, as they don't work.
