Locale Location Stops Tethering #1459

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
This is a compatibility issue with the Locale application.

When Locale's location module attempts to determine the devices location it
queries both the GPS and the WIFI!!!

As a result of the interaction with the WiFi interface tethering is broken.

This behavior can be avoided by disabling the Locale service (Which I believe
is done with an intent)

Currently I have to do this manually, and remember to restart the service when
I stop tethering... I HATE THIS.

Please add an option to automatically enable/disable the Locale service when
starting/stopping tethering.

Thank you.

I too would like to have the option of having the locale service
stopped/started when Wi-Fi tether status changes. of Course I would settle for
Two-forty AM allowing you to disable using Wi-Fi as a location criteria some
other way than setting each location radius to 2,000 meters (GPS alone is WAY
more accurate than that and I have GPS running all the time anyway)
