Updated docstring to include params and further explanation

• Adding parameters to the docstring of some functions of the app.
• Changing from ''' to """ for consistency in docstrings
• Added further explanantion to some docstrings

Next steps: add full description in docstring to missing functions that may need it. i.e. Them functions that have REST methods associated.
