6 years ago I agree, something like this would be nice. It would take some redesigning though, because of how the site navigation currently works. fwiw, Imgur galleries work similarly: Click once for an in-screen zoom, navigate with arrow keys.
I don't know if this has been asked for before or not, but I'd like a way to click on an image post in MLTSHP and view it at its full size or at full window width, without downloading it or opening it in a new browser tab. This usually happens with huge long comic strips or wallpaper-sized image posts.
A suitable example of such can be seen here: photoswipe.com
Since this is not a bug report or anything vital for the site, consider this an enhancement request.
