On the "Your Conversations" page, users can mute (remove) a conversation thread by clicking the "Mute this conversation" button.
It is instantaneous and irrevocable and there is no unmute. One click blows it out of your history permanently, so it is unforgiving of mis-clicks. Adding comment to a thread after muting it will not unmute it.
Add an "Are you sure?" interstitial to confirm the user wants to mute the conversation, and/or add a button to image pages the user has muted to allow them to unmute. The first option will probably be easier to add to the site.
@ardgedee how about instead we "squash" a muted convo down to just the thumbnail, title and an "unmute" button, and make it partially transparent? Mellow it significantly without nuking it completely?
