Mark 8:2 MLV

I have compassion upon the crowd, because they already remain with me for three days and do not have anything in which they might eat.

Was Jesus concerned they did not have bowls for food or the food itself?

With the idea that you can ADD italicized words or punctuation how would you like it to read?

Daniel-Hug commented 8 years ago

Removing "in which":

I have compassion upon the crowd, because they already remain with me for three days and do not have anything they might eat.

done.

Actually, I found that this same fix can be made in Matt 15:32.

mlvbible commented 7 years ago

"in which" OR "that" really need to be here the flow is just not English. Or some other word(s).

Most would paraphrase this to "anything to eat".

Matthew 15:32 MLV

Now Jesus called his disciples to him, and said, I have compassion upon the crowd because they already remain with me three days, and do not have anything in which they might eat, and I am not willing to dismiss them starving, lest they might faint on the road.

I believe it reads fine without any added words:

Now Jesus called his disciples to him, and said, I have compassion upon the crowd because they already remain with me three days, and do not have anything they might eat, and I am not willing to dismiss them starving, lest they might faint on the road.

I think "that" would be better than "in which" though.
