[Feature Request] Add Option to Exclude Hidden Folders from Search in Kvæsitso #383

Hello @MM2-0 ,

I really enjoy using Kvæsitso. However, I noticed that hidden folders starting with a dot (.) and their contents come up in the search results, which can be quite inconvenient 🤫 and cluttered.

I would like to request that you add an option to exclude hidden folders from the search in Kvæsitso. It would be great if I could choose whether to include or exclude hidden folders in the search results. By default, the hidden folders should be excluded from search results, but it would be useful if I could toggle this option in the launcher's settings if I wish to see the contents of these folders in my search results.

I think that this feature would improve the usability of Kvæsitso significantly and make it easier for me to find the apps and files I need quickly without being overwhelmed by irrelevant results. I hope you can consider my request, and I'm looking forward to seeing this feature implemented in the future updates of Kvæsitso.

Thank you for your hard work and dedication to making Kvæsitso a great launcher for us users.

Best regards.

I agree, this is a great app. Best home launcher I've ever used.

I believe the feature you request may already exist.

Settings > Search > Hidden search results

Then scroll down to see if enabled or not.

Hi @exstntlmsnthrp,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. However, I think there might be some confusion about my request.

Just to clarify, I'm not looking to completely hide files from appearing in search results. What I meant was that I would like an option to hide only the files that are located in folders starting with a dot (.), which is the convention used in Android to indicate hidden files.

I hope this clears up any misunderstanding, and I appreciate your interest in my request.

Thank you for your time.

Best regards.

Thank you for clarifying @rahaaatul. Although I did understand, as dot files are extensively used in Linux (my daily computer OS), from which Android is vaguely based.

It's interesting because I do not have the dot files appear in my search results, which is why I believed it existed. My apologies if my understanding was incorrect. Just another user trying to assist.

What about disabling viewing hidden files in your default files app? Does that disable them from search results in Kvaesitso?

What version of Android are you using? Or are you using a custom ROM?

Hi @exstntlmsnthrp,

Thank you for your response and for your attempt to assist me with my request. I appreciate your interest in helping me with my issue.

Regarding your suggestion to disable viewing hidden files in the default files app, disabling viewing hidden files in the default files app will not have any impact on the search results in Kvæsitso. But I double checked anyway, and it didn't work.

To answer your question, I'm currently using stock version of Android 11 on my phone. I understand that the behavior of hidden files can vary depending on the version of Android or the custom ROM used, which might explain why you're not seeing the dot files in your search results.

Again, thank you for your help and suggestions, and I hope this clarifies my request further.

Best regards.

Edit: Just wanted to clarify that my files are located inside a folder that starts with a dot (.), but the files themselves do not have a dot (.) in front of them. I hope this clears up any confusion and provides more context to my request.
