Motor Control and Support #1

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

1) Disc bends while spinning

The top of the disc is the weakest part. We should either add external support
on top and/or add a central shaft.

2) Need a mount

Right now, we are using a clamp to test the quality of the motor

3) Mounting the Paspberry Pi

4) The motor may not be spinning fast enough to satisfy our ~30Hz refresh rate,
but mounting the disc to the motor shaft seems infeasible. We need to test our
RPM once the base is completed.

1) (EDIT) May need to grind off ridges on outermost parts (furthest from axis
of rotation) on disc to eliminate air resistance. This may help reduce wobbling
and increase RPM.

5) Need to discuss calibration monitor / RPM meter (probably a photoeye
connected to an arduino or something) (also requires base to be completed).

6) We may need to look into power smoothing once we have to start providing
power to the raspberry pi / etc. I don't want to blow out any circuits and I
think that our brushing system will give a lot of interruptions, so we may have
to find some 24v capacitors to smooth out or power supply when it's interrupted.
