HDR10H and HLG10H are mathematically impossible. #44

The HDR10H and HLG10H profiles are mathematically impossible.

HDR10 and HLG10 allow 4K and require Main/Main10/ L5.1. L5.1 is limited to 534773760 luma samples per second. For a 3840×2160 picture this translates into 64.47fps.

We need L5.2 or L6 to support 4K@120fps, and these levels exceed the requirements of the HDR10 and HLG10 profiles referenced by HDR10H and HLG10H.

I believe the idea was that you can do 120fps, but only at 1080p or 1440p. If you want to do 4K, you can do only 60 fps.

Thomas to add a Note that we can not do both at the same time, but we can do one or the other option.
