Dive's UI needs to split it tasks into workflow steps and guide the user #82

I suggest implementing a wizard that follows four major steps:

dive workflow

You could make buttons like these, highlighting where the user is in the process. when the user presses the next step you can suggest suitable pages. If you don't like going from left to right you could also split up the entries currently listed in the left side into these categories to make more obvious that the user is moving down a work-flow.

Filtering is kind of extra since this can always be applied. It deserves an extra area separate from the rest.

I do not understand what you mean by 'reference dataset'. The reference dataset is always selected.

You select one dataset you want to investigate (query data set), then you select datasets to compare against e.g. via similarity search (reference data set or whatever you call this).
