Lack of information in documentation (global tractography) #1306

Open carolinajimenez26 opened 6 years ago

carolinajimenez26 commented 6 years ago

In the documentation of global tractography says: "Note that the T1 image must be aligned with (e.g. registered to) the DWI data. See this page for more information." Where this page redirects to http://mrtrix.readthedocs.io/en/latest/workflows/act.html#tissue-segmentation which says that the page doesn't exist yet.

Thanks for the report. This is the correct link: http://mrtrix.readthedocs.io/en/latest/quantitative_structural_connectivity/act.html#tissue-segmentation

I'll amend that right away.

Hi @carolinajimenez26 ,

Thanks for reporting! I had already spotted this myself months ago, and this has since been fixed in a separate branch; see the updated version of this page of the documentation here: http://mrtrix.readthedocs.io/en/doctest/quantitative_structural_connectivity/global_tractography.html . I've updated many other things in there as well.

The reason it wasn't yet updated in the "main" version of the documentation that many users, like you, would typically access, is that I couldn't find any other developers to approve my changes yet (all very busy people). These same changes sit entirely ready for the upcoming RC3 (release candidate 3) that should become the "main" version of MRtrix3 in a couple of days (at most) though! Here's the documentation for RC3, of this very page: http://mrtrix.readthedocs.io/en/dev/quantitative_structural_connectivity/global_tractography.html . You'll notice this is exactly the same version of the page as my first link in this post. Again, because this is sitting entirely ready for release in just a couple of days, at most, along with many other small and bigger documentation updates and fixes.

While we work on making RC3 happen (and the page on this topic you usually access will be inherently fixed), please use any of the 2 links from my post here: they provide you with the most up to date documentation, without any broken links!

Cheers, Thijs

Hi! Thanks Thijs Dhollander and J-Donald Tournier for answering me so quickly! I have visited the new page you told me ( http://mrtrix.readthedocs.io/en/doctest/quantitative_structural_connectivity/global_tractography.html) and I realized that it doesn't say anything about the segmentation needed (with 5ttgen). Is that ok or did you forget putting that information? Thanks a lot, I am doing my project degree around MRtrix and I am trying to understand everything I can.

Thanks again, Carolina.
