Layers aside from mapswipe covered in https://github.com/MSFREACH/msf-reach/issues/196

@LucieGueuning @anexact @talltom can someone update me on this in particular where discussions are at with GIS team so I can get an understanding of what needs to be done.

LucieGueuning commented 6 years ago

It was an idea to get layers (so data) from GIS. GIS were waiting for our reply in terms of language. They have MSF info (Mission History/infrastructure/...). I don't know whether it is possible to integrate those data to our REACH map platform. It would be great.

In addition to that, we wanted to do something with MapSwipe (https://github.com/craic/mapswipe_utils)

Got your email about this issue, will follow up tomorrow my time. Mapswipe is a separate issue https://github.com/MSFREACH/msf-reach/issues/196

From @talltom email: @LucieGueuning , may I suggest that you ask them for more information on what layers they have available, and the attributes of these data? Down the track we could also provision support for them to consume data from REACH, however the real-time nature of the platform we are building means that this requires some further thought - I think that taken out of context of the REACH system, the REACH data could be easily misinterpreted, for example, if it was displayed in a more "traditional" GIS data portal. From the USER side my proposal is that Etienne includes some questions and notes on this during the ethnographic process to ask REACH user audience (MSF teams) how they will use the new mapping efforts of OGC as part of their processes, thus helping us identify and avoiding duplication of efforts in collection and sharing of geospatial information as we continue to develop the REACH PoC.

@anexact after what GIS Unit OCG have shared, what do you think to be right solution?
