interpolate_nawhich removes the nans at the beginning and end of the data and replaces them with extrapolated values, which are usually not great. Therefore we need to reinsert the nan's at the beginning and end of the interpolated data to keep true to the data. The keywordextrapolate=Trueallows the user to skip this step, but is set toFalseby default.MTsuch that keyword arguments can be passed to the inheritedTFobject. This speeds up reading and initialization. Currently the initialization ofMTruns_initialize_xarraytwice and that is costly.
