Hello, i'm recording my screencaptur + audio for later postprocessing in Lightworks. However - Lightworks only works with fixed frame rate videos. How can I record video with fixed frame rate?

My current setup: Container MP4 Codec: Other, Codecname: libx264, Bit rate: 5000: Custom options: none, Not allowing frame skipping, Audio MP3 320kbps

Thanks Linux, Ubuntu 13.10 64bit

Fixed frame rate? Can you link to where it says that lightworks only works with fixed frame rate video? I feel that there may be a misunderstanding somewhere along the line.

SSR always records at a fixed frame rate because that's the only thing many video players support. However, SSR can skip frames. If you don't want that, you should uncheck 'allow frame skipping'. If SSR still skips frames, it means your computer is not fast enough and you should use a faster encoder (or faster preset).

Ubuntuaddicted: sure thing, here is my post in Lightworks: http://www.lwks.com/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=23&id=66999&Itemid=81 Moderator clearly says that framerate should be fixed.

All the problems start with audio syncing in Lightworks as framerate is not fixed. If SSR would record in fixed framerate, why would MediaInfo report frame rate mode: variable? I have disabled frame skipping so that is not the case. Computer is actually quad core i7 so and processor load is not even reaching 50%, disk is the fastest SSD .. so why is it still reports framerates as variable? Puzzled.

I checked the MediaInfo again - for small files it reports fixed frame rate, i guess you're right, it makes it "variable" when it is not able to keep up with the stream's conversions. The puzzling thing still is - cpu resources never go beyond 50% so resoucrewise there's plenty of room. Will keep experimenting. Thank you

no other editing software I have ever dealt with has ever had an issue with what you're having issues with in lightworks. As the moderator suggests, if it's really a problem for you than just use handbrake or avidemux and encode the video loosless with a fixed frame rate.
