Sound recording issue : no sound when on earplugs #840

Hello, screen and audio recording work well when recording from speakers and built-in mic. I use Dell laptop with F31. The output sound recording stops when I plug a generic earplug ( one with the mic from a cell phone). the recording of a desktop and my audio still present, but audio from a program ( skype, zoom) is not present in the recording anymore.

I attached a log where initially audio was recorded from speakers, but in about 2 minutes I plugged an earpiece and no more audio can be heard in the recording. Thank you for your help. https://paste.centos.org/view/739e437a

You may have to change the audio source that SSR is recording if you plug in headphones. Try looking at your inputs and monitors in PulseAudio Volume Control.

@MaartenBaert , thank you for the suggestion. I've been trying various outputs, but i can only record one - either myself (mic) or them ( analog stereo). Is this comment still valid https://www.maartenbaert.be/simplescreenrecorder/recording-game-audio/#comment_1501

or the "easy way" should be used instead?

MaartenBaert commented 3 years ago

That is one of the ways to record both at the same time. However if your system uses PulseAudio already, then the PulseAudio-based solutions should be used instead.

ive got vokoscreenNG to record in this configuration: image

selecting 2 inputs is the only way to get the mic and the other side to be recorded. SSR doesn't have the check box style selection... not sure ...

SSR doesn't have a feature to record multiple audio inputs at the same time. This is harder to implement than it sounds because the streams all have to be synchronized to each other. It's on the todo list, but currently not yet implemented.

Understood. Thank you Maarten for your help and the software. I see that screen + audio recording from 2 sources are extremely cpu intensive for that other software. Maybe that is an area you can explore.
