I am aware of the fact that you can select "record rectangle" and then select a window.
If you have other applications on top or change the workspace however, you will see those things as well and not just the screen you selected.
Moreover, I thought it could be possible and come in handy to be able to select applications whose sounds should be played because you can change the volume of them seperatly in the sound manager.
With this two improvements it would be much easier to record something and do something else simultaneously.

I do not know if OpenGl or a V4L2 device could help me out here, but but I could not figure it out.
