Is it possible to unlock the service menu of the newer LG C3/G3 TVs with ColorControl? #223

Are you by any chance working on how to do this? Or does someone else need to figure it out and then you can implement it? I'm not 100% sure how the process works. I think if you figure out how to get into the REAL service menu of the C3/G3, you will be a hero of the AVS community :-).

I've downloaded the latest firmware of the G3 and was able to decrypt it with epk2extract (it seems the keys for this were already leaked, 😁). After scanning the files I've found a suspicious boolean setting that is default 'true' for this year TV's and what may cause a 'simplified service menu' to appear instead of the normal one. Now this specific setting fortunately should be changeable just like the other settings that can be changed by ColorControl (after I add it). But this all hinges on the fact if the 'workaround' to change the settings directly still works on the 2023 TV's. Do you have an 2023 OLED or know anyone who has one and can change simple things like the 'backlight' via ColorControl? Maybe I should ask this in the C3/G3 thread on AVS.

I unfortunately do not have a 2023 LG TV. I have a 2021 LG C1 and I'm probably going to re-buy that 27GR95QE-B since the other 27" 1440p 16:9 OLED options are even worse lol. BUT YES, I love AVSForum. I promise you that there would be A LOT of people willing to test things out for you!

Do you by any chance know how I could find out if there is something similar to the "HDMI Signaling Override" menu on an LG 27GR95QE-B monitor? LG's TVs have the signaling override menu where you can choose an HDR10 tone curve to use and it is fantastic. Unfortunately the 27gr95qe-b can't be hooked up to your network since it's just a monitor :-( so I can't use it with ColorControl. Just wondering if you had any ideas of how to find out how to force tone curves.

I don't know, maybe if you can find something in the firmware update files for this monitor. But I see it's only a .exe file (OnScreen Control). Do you update the firmware via this tool?

Yea, you need to use that software and you connect the monitor to the PC via a usb cable. Then it updates the firmware.

Has anyone with a C3/G3 tested this? Were you able to disable TPC/GSR?

I have an OLED77G3PUA if you are still looking to test your theory.

Sorry, just noticed the option is already in the latest verison. It works perfectly.

There is an option in the service menu to turn the service menu flag back on after you've had your fun.

Excellent job!
