It's related to mouse controls but it doesn't affect the menu cursor. Ungrabbing the mouse with Ctrl+F10 stops it but then you're not controlling the ship. Going full screen on an ultrawide monitor set as the primary display stops it but that's not a very optimal setup.
Fullscreen on the laptop screen with the external display unplugged doesn't work, windowed mode doesn't work. Only the speed of the ship's drifting is slightly affected by the window coordinates.
