Added sprint bar on panel. Using exp bar, but need new a sprint bar.

+1

Seyjin commented 12 years ago

I do not really expand the panel more. Why not use a small bar under the character?

master-lincoln commented 12 years ago

-1 seems completely unnecessary to me...

Maescool commented 12 years ago

what about sprint bar under character? cause for example.. i'm rarely looking at the bottom bar..

master-lincoln commented 12 years ago

You feel if sprintbar would be empty and reloading doesn't take really long. Most games have no bar as indicator... Do we really need this extra clutter?

danielduner commented 12 years ago

I have no idea what's going on with the sprint right now. If we are to keep it I think a bar is needed, so that you can learn how the sprint works. Or, better yet, remove the sprint function: #862

i'm rewrite code, to under character sprint bar. Think is better. Yes?

Devlar made a mod where droplets of sweat came from the player character when sprinting.

To me this is a more interesting, subtle and involving way to show sprint time rather than just another bar / numerical stat displayed on screen. (Though I didn't particularly like the graphic that was being used in the example)

Assume that max sprint time is set to 4 seconds...

1st second: character moves at sprint speed with no effect 2nd second: add light sweating effect 3rd second: add medium sweating effect 4th second: add heavy sweating effect

Then if sprint button is not release before 5th second, character actually stops and pants for a couple of seconds before moving on.

This introduces a level of skill and perception where you have to accurately guage how exhausted your character is, or pay a penalty.

The different levels of effect would simply be a different number of sweat particles launched, while exhaustion would require a panting / heavy breathing animation for each character.

I use just the sprint but the option is good. I think it would be a shame to delete it.

why not a small bar under the character? http://s4.noelshack.com/uploads/images/7290436433445_screenshot0.png

i like Ampa's idea, the less screen clutter the better, using visual and audio clues for things where possible is far better and more engaging.
